Featuring three nine-hole tracks designed by Jack Nicklaus, every tee shot requires a carry, to some degree, over dry gulches and desert vegetation. You play through craggy, granite-ridden arroyos and outcroppings that wind down into the Tucson valley. With half the turf grass of a traditional course, the desert is in play at La Paloma. Indigenous wildlife - roadrunners, quail, ground squirrels and an occasional coyote or Gila monster - thrives throughout this desert golf course.  Some of the playoff scenes in "Tin Cup" were filmed here!

A round of golf here takes you through desert washes, over mountain passes, and into box canyons. The experience will be one to remember. "Starr Pass" is the local name of the niche in the Tucson Mountains that this dynamic course occupies. The course was by Robert Cupp and utilized existing desert terrain to create natural hazards and showcases nature's handiwork. This results in contrasts of lush, manicured green grass set against dark porous rock and cactus. The tight fairways favor a straight shot. Each hole has four different tee boxes, allowing the player to select a longer or shorter course, depending on the level of experience or bravery.

Located in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains on the city's west side, the facility includes a full-service clubhouse with dining facilities, a locker room, and a pro shop. The course conditions, featuring bent-grass greens, are maintained to PGA tour standards year round.
